New for 2024: Sketch comedy jams
Sketch Jams & Events are open to sketch writers and improvisers in Houston as well as visiting performers. Jams are 18+ and FREE of charge. No ticket is necessary. Schedules may be adjusted for Holidays & Special Events.
Improv-to-Sketch Jam & Writers’ Room
Third Sunday of each month; starting 1/21/2024
4:00-5:30 pm
Each jam will start with a 30-minute Improv-to-Sketch Jam to generate ideas. The remainder of the time is a Writers Room. Attendees can write sketched from ideas generated in the Jam, pitch new ideas, share incompleted sketches for help, or partner up to write sketches. Ticket not required.
Sketch AV Club (Video Sketch Meet-Up)
First Sunday of each month; starting 2/4/2024
4:00-5:30 pm
This event is for those interested in learning the basics of the technical side of video sketch - setting up lighting, framing shots, ensuring sound quality, and editing scenes.
This is also an opportunity for sketch troupes to record video sketches and for improv troupes to record sets for festival submissions. To schedule your recording opportunity, please use the request form below.
